'The Brown Owl Gallery' Darryl Brown, oils on plastic, 2010
Nestled at the foot of the Wollemi National Park is a miniature gallery packed full of surprises!
The Brown Owl Gallery is all about eclecticism, exciting original local artworks, unique local and imported giftware and cards, body jewelry, clothing and surprising finds...like a suit of Grecian armour or a pair of Vintage knee-high heels!
The Brown Owl Gallery is only 3 hours west of Sydney in the heart of new and established wine country, olive groves and - for the intrepid - spectacular bush-walking and camping grounds at nearby Dunn’s Swamp, an explorer’s dream and geographical and geological wonderland.
We’re located at the heart of the scenic historical town of Kandos, sister town to tourist haven Rylstone, only 7kms distant. Kandos boasts the title of ‘gateway’ to the magnificent Wollemi National Park (the Wollemi Pine being the oldest living tree on the planet) and is heralded as one of Australia’s first townships.
Although it’s small in population (1800+), Kandos is big on personality - you will remember it!
There’s a selection of cafes, independent shops and interest points in town, two motels and a fine golf course. Mudgee is close by - only 60kms to the north - and the Hunter Valley is easily accessible via Bylong Valley Way.
Next time you’re heading to the Central West, step off the beaten track and visit us. Ours may be the only garden you’ve ever seen that has a teacup tree!
